Biography of William Makepeace Thackeray (English Writer)

William Makepeace Thackeray was born in Calcutta on July 18, 1812 and died in London on December 24, 1863.

William Makepeace Thackeray is an English writer, journalist and poet. He became a famous person as a writer of Van Fair (1847 - 1848). He also became a figure of literary leaders in Victoria.

Thackeray was born to British parents in India. His father was named Richmond Thackeray who died in 1815. The father sent Makepeace Thackeray to London for study.

Meanwhile, her mother, whose name was Anne, remained in India and restored her marriage.

William has described the period of his suffering at Charterhouse boarding school in his Vanity Fair. He went on to study at Trinity Colledge, Cambridge, where he succeeded in becoming a successful intellectual figure.

He also managed to meet Edward Fitzgerald. After he got to know the romance writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, he went to London to study legal matters.

William tries to invest his fortune in newspaper publishing. However, the effort he did failed. After living poor, he wrote in Fraser and Punch magazines to survive and succeeded in gaining his fame through Yellowplush papers (1837 - 1838 and 1840).

He became a writer who was able to write down the value of humanity, the ability to deal with various kinds of suffering and meaningful enough. Exactly in 1860 to 1862, he served as an editor of the magazine The Cornhill Magazine, which is quite famous.

As one of the ironic essayists, he was even considered unchallenged at the time. The style of writing applied emphasizes the idea at the end of a careful and precise writing. The writings he describes are able to influence the flow of romance in England.

Himself even also use some target names in the writing that successfully created, including Yellowplush, Gahagan, Solamans and Titmarsh.
