Recep Tayyip Erdogan was born in Istanbul, Turkey, on February 26, 1954, who was a Turkish politician who has served as President of Turkey since 2014.
Previously, Erdogan served as Prime Minister of Turkey since March 14, 2003 until August 28, 2014. Erdogan also became a leader of Adalet ve Kalkinma Partisi.
Erdogan was elected to the Mayor of Istanbul in a local election held on 27 March 1994. He also had felt the bitterness of prison on December 12, 1997 due to his troubled poem.

Erdogan was born in Istanbul, but grew up in Rize, on the Black Sea coast and back to Istanbul when he was 13 years old in a middle-class family. His father was a coast guard sailor in the Navy.
He studied at a religious school, Imam Hatip School and went on to study at Marmara University to study economics and business. Erdogan became a semi-professional football player when he was young, 16 years old and worked in an urban transport company in Istanbul.
Furthermore, Erdogan plunged into the political world together with the Partisan Islamist Milli Selamet, under the leadership of the now-disbanded Necmettin Erbakan.
After a military coup on September 12, 1980, Erdogan left the world of football and continued his career in the private sector and in 1982 underwent military service as an officer by having a special task.
Turkey Presidential Election 2014
On August 10, 2014, Turkey held its first direct presidential election after 91 years. Because, so far, the Turkish President himself was elected by parliament.
There are as many as 3 candidates who succeeded in becoming a candidate in the 2014 Turkish presidential election. The Turkish Prime Minister, Erdogan also took part in the president's choice.
The other 2 candidates are Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu who is the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference since 2005 and Selahattin Demirtas, an ethnic Kurdish politician in Turkey.
Erdogan succeeded in becoming the 12th President of Turkey after collecting 52% of the vote, which was held on August 10, 2014. Meanwhile, on 28 August 2018, Erdogan was officially sworn in as 12th President of Turkey.
